I’m inaugurating a new idea starting this month. I find that if I formalize my plans in my planner journal, I am more likely to get on with creative projects as well as my other writing and business work.
First I brainstormed a bunch of possibilities of small scale projects that I believed I could consistently follow through on over the course of a month. That might mean a daily task, or a larger project that could be completed in that time. Some of them have multiple components.
Then from that master list (Creativity Jumpstart #1), I selected 11 – having already allocated January to a different project – a handmade mini-scrapbook that I will be posting a video about in a few weeks.
Here is my planned Year of Art Projects.
- February – a Month of Scrapbook sketches.
- March – a Month of ATC’s
- April – Party Favor ideas
- May – Altered Paperclips
- June – Daily Favorite Quotes – as printables
- July – Handmade Scrapbook embellishments
- August – Patches for patchwork – including tie dye
- September – Embroidery stitches
- October – Holiday Ornaments
- November – Black and White ink drawings
- December – Daily Haiku
Some of these will be new to me, so learning opportunities, while others slot happily into my comfort zone and will be relaxing and fun. Some are part of a larger planned project – a book idea that has been percolating for a while. Many will incorporate recycled/upcycled elements. I will post most on my Iggy Jingles Crafts blog and my FB group, and some will have a video on my YouTube channel.
Care to join me? I’ll be talking about my projects on the Creativity Blast FB group here. Do you want to participate in a Month of something, or join me in using my plans? Shall I turn some of these into challenges? Let me know.
Here’s the first sketch.
